Trip notes and Itinerary for our 4-day trip to Puerto Vallarta, México.
When we visited Cancún in 2012, we met someone who suggested next time we visit Cancún, we should cross the border at Otay Mesa and fly out of Tijuana Airport instead of LAX. It would be much cheaper and more direct. Later, after CBX was built, a co-worker told me next time we visit México we should use CBX and fly out of Tijuana Airport. So that’s what our group did for our trip to Puerto Vallarta, México.
Many thanks to Cross Border Xpress (CBX) and the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board for hosting us on this trip.
Flights
We flew out of Tijuana, México, to Puerto Vallarta using Cross Border Xpress (CBX). Crossing into México through CBX from Otay Mesa in San Diego, California, meant our flight to Puerto Vallarta was a domestic one, saving us international fees. It also meant we did not have to go through customs when we landed in Puerto Vallarta.
Our flight was on Volaris.
My TravelAwaits article “The Unique Way Travelers Are Saving Time And Big Bucks Flying To Mexico” has all the details about using CBX.
Transfers
Our group had a shuttle that took us to our hotel and back to the airport.
Activities/Excursions
All of the activities and excursions were booked for us. The nighttime bar-hopping was on our own.
Accommodations
We stayed at the Grand Miramar in Puerto Vallarta.
How I Got Around in Puerto Vallarta
Our group’s shuttle took us to all of our activities. To return from Downtown PV to the hotel after a night of partying, we took a taxi.
